Many manufacturers will tout thread-count as the determining factor in choosing bedding and comforter sets, and especially bed sheets. Though others will say the “quality” of the fibers and not the count are more important to the comfort and durability of the sheets and designer bedding.

Take for example the popular jersey type and flannel sheets and those made from linen. Sheets of this type have a low thread-count yet their softness is what makes them so popular. It is true that in general higher thread-count sheets and designer bedding and comforters are softer, but as you can see from this example, it is not always the determining factor in selecting bed sheets and designer bedding and comforter sets.
